The author's study of Rama Setu covers all the aspects of historical, economics, environmental and national security of the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project. He opposes the rupture of Rama Setu, to dredge out a seabed furrow in the Palk Strait and Gulf of Mannar. He terms the Project (SSCP) as a financial white elephant. he argues that in choosing to design the SSCP based on destructive channel route, the Government, has betrayed our ancient civilization and Sanatan Dharma. The legendary bridge of coral reefs and rocks was built, according to the Ramayana. Hence, the author argues that it is essential now to set up an independent multidisciplinary investigative committee of experts to rectify this serious lapse on part of the Government.
Born in Mylapore, Chennai, on 15 September 1939, Dr. Swamy holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University, where he also taught for ten years, and has published famous joint papers on the Theory of Index Numbers with Nobel Laureate Paul A. Samuelson. Dr. Swamy was the President of the Janata Party. Subramanian Swamy is a published author of several books, research papers and journals. He received Distinguished Alumni Award from Hindu College, University of Delhi, in 2012; Hindu Ratna Award from the organization of Hindu Helpline, in 2013; and Tamil Ratna award for the Tamil Sangam of New York.
