While most of these are from the column that have been published as ‘Maroof’s Musings’ for SALUTE—a monthly magazine focussed on the armed forces and military matters —some are also from other important publications, as it is cited at the end of an essay. Almost all of them are short in length and written to simply provide a brief on the subject for those interested in matters military, though without the details that a more academic essay would normally have. However, the essays in this collection are suitably researched, and weren’t simply written ‘off the cuff’.

Author
Maroof Raza Maroof Raza is the Series Editor of the Military Affairs series, a commentator in both print and television media on India’s security concerns, and a former Indian Army officer. Educated at Mayo College, St. Stephen’s College, King’s College London, and Cambridge, he held fellowships at premier institutions and served from 1980–1993. He has authored Generals and Governments, Kashmir’s Untold Story, and Contested Lands. He hosts defence shows like Latitude and Tales of Valour on Times Now and Discovery, is Consulting Editor (Strategic Affairs), publishes Salute magazine, and lectures widely on strategy and leadership.
