This anthology of poetry is truly what Wordsworth called a ‘spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.’ It deals with the issues that any human being confronts to in the modern world, with special emphasis on what women of today demand and receive. It speaks how, amidst all the hue and cry, a sensitive heart evolves to outshine the drab, ruthless anecdotes of life with perfect ease.
This collection of poetry reflects how the author learnt to survive in a human jungle breaking all the shackles. She speaks of feelings from an oriental perspective and while her ideas are modern and universal, the soul of Shadan’s poetry remains very Vedic.
What is unusual in her poetry is the transparency of ideas and emotions. She writes with brutal honesty, demolishing outdated, repressive ideas blow by blow, verse by verse. The difference being that her free spirited words and thoughts are her weapons, flowing on the page in the form of poetry.
This book of poems exudes rejection of the material and repressive world all around us.

Dr Shadan Ahmad
Dr Shadan Ahmad was born and brought up in Allahabad (Prayag Raj) she has a Masters from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi and a PhD in English Poetry from the University of Allahabad.
She worked as an Editor in the Hindi Service of Radio Deutsche Welle Koln, Germany, taught script writing in the drama section of Jamia Millia Islamia, as guest faculty and published another collection of poems called Muktibodh in hindi. Acting is her first love and she has performed in plays for theatre, the most famous ones being Qaide Hayat, written by Surendra Verma, and ‘Saransh’ written by Mahesh Bhatt. Recently she acted in the movie ‘Kaagaz’. Shadan is also a compulsive painter.
